The team at SMI has over 90 years of experience formulating
and manufacturing nutritional supplements. Founded in 1996,
SMI has placed quality and service as its top priorities and
it has earned them the trust and respect of customers
worldwide.
SMI’s product selection is as diversified as the industries
for which we manufacture. Whether your market is general
heath, chronic ailments, sports nutrition, companion pet
products, beverage concentrates, or any other number of
applications, SMI can manufacture the products that will set
you apart from your competition. Many of our customers have
chosen to utilize our own patented and proprietary ingredients
that are available no where else.
Flavor formulation was the tool that initially put SMI on the
map and continues to set us apart from other contract
manufacturers. It remains the key to market success and we
have mastered the art.
The SMI team includes Dr. Michael Foster M.D. a world renowned
Endocrinologist and Professor of Endocrinology, Dr. Andrew
Keech, the internationally acclaimed expert on colostrum and
Dr. Robert Foster, SMI’s Chief Science Officer.
Dr. Robert Foster earned a PHD in Chemistry from Harvard
University before continuing on to become an NSF Fellow at
Stanford University. As SMI’s Chief Science Officer, Dr.
Foster provides knowledge and experience that simply cannot be
equaled. These impressive credentials are only some of the
tools SMI provides to our customers.
The SMI facilities are FDA inspected, European Union
certified, USDA certified, Halal Certified, and OU Kosher. In
addition, SMI is GMP compliant. SMI maintains uncompromised
standards that have consistently earned the trust and respect
of customers worldwide.
SMI’s manufacturing capabilities include high speed
encapsulation, Bartelt filled pouching, automated bottle and
bag filling, and bulk bagging for commercial applications.
Blending and shipping beverage concentrates is also available.
This packaging diversity makes SMI the perfect fit for any
project.
With a manufacturing capacity of over 1,000,000 capsules per
day, SMI continues to provide the highest quality capsules for
a worldwide market.
SMI is the premier manufacturing facility for nutritional
supplements in the state of Arizona. Formulation, packaging
and logistics are all under one roof waiting to serve you at
affordable prices with service that can’t be matched.
Chief Executive Officer
Kevin Taheri has over 15 years of experience in the
manufacturing and processing of food and nutritional
supplements. Mr. Taheri began his Career with MD Labs in 1991
where he helped the launch of one of the most successful sport
supplement product lines world wide. In 1996 he left MD Labs
to start SMI Manufacturing. SMI Manufacturing is a leading
manufacturer of protein drinks, food, and many other herbs and
supplements. In 2002 Mr. Taheri purchased previous employer MD
Labs and created new relationships with big box retailers such
as Costco, Sam’s Club, etc.
His success in the nutraceutical industry is a result of the
many relationships he has built and continues to grow. His
expertise has allowed him to operate one of the finest FDA
inspected and European Union approved facilities on the west
coast of the United States. Combining his knowledge of
nutraceutical products and manufacturing standards has made
him a leader in the industry and a strong contributor to SMI
Manufacturing.
Chief Science Officer
Dr. Robert Foster co-founded Renasci Inc. in 2000 with the
express intent of changing the face of healthcare in the
United States. Rather than accept the fact that the physical
and mental effects of aging and other chronic physiological
conditions are irreversible and unchangeable, Renasci launched
a new era in the understanding and treatment of the issues of
tissue regeneration and repair. Since 2000, Dr. Foster has
collaborated with a number of companies in an effort to create
new diagnostics and procedures for rapid, convenient and cost
effective assessment of the body’s physiological state and
support for tissue regeneration. These efforts have resulted
in the creation of Molecular Regenix LLC, a joint
collaboration with CoValence Inc., a major skin care product
manufacturer. Molecular Regenix has developed a line of
supplements based on state-of-the-art natural biochemistry to
support the creation of lean body mass, cardiovascular health,
exercise recovery, skin protection, joint health and wound
healing. In addition, MR has a novel wound healing topical
formulation based on natural biochemistry in clinical trials
that will conclude in Q1 2006. All these products and
formulations are protected by patents and are directed toward
tissue regeneration and addressing areas of major concern such
as chronic inflammation. The goal of this work is to give all
people a simple set of products that can control the processes
of degradation caused by aging and other chronic conditions
and to help prevent these processes from occurring at all.
Prior to the founding of Renasci, Dr. Foster worked for more
that 20 years in the high tech business of Semiconductor
Capital Equipment. He held various positions from process
development to upper management. In 1996 Dr. Foster became the
CEO of Materials Research Corporation (MRC), a wholly owned
subsidiary of Sony Corporation. Dr. Foster led a team of
experienced managers and technologists that engineered a
complete turn-around of MRC from major losses to
profitability. This reversal of fortunes not only was the
result of increased efficiency but also the creation of new,
innovative technologies that are in use today in many advanced
computer chips. In 1998, Dr. Foster led his team in the sale
of MRC to a multi-national equipment manufacturer, Tokyo
Electron Limited (TEL). Dr. Foster remained at TEL for 2 years
as the President of the local subsidiary Tokyo Electron
Arizona. After the business and technology integration was
complete in 2000, Dr. Foster left TEL to pursue his dream of
molecular discovery to help the body heal itself by
regeneration and to fight the degradation of chronic
conditions such as aging. In January 2003, Dr. Foster’s life
was profoundly altered when his then 8 year old daughter
Juliette was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. The example of
quiet courage and determination that Juliette has given to her
father has provided him with the humility necessary to
approach the task of developing products that support the
body’s efforts to repair itself. It has also given Dr. Foster
a unique perspective on the state of the healthcare system
today as it has culminated in the grand dream of higher
efficiency and profitability many times at the expense of the
patient.
Dr. Foster and his brother Dr. Michael
Foster, who is more importantly the Godfather of Juliette
Foster, have refocused their efforts with renewed vigor to aid
all people with these chronic conditions. These efforts
include balancing the hormonal system, diet, exercise and
supplements that are designed for optimization of lean mass,
regulation of the immune system and reduction of oxidative
stress at the molecular level. Dr. Foster received a PhD in
chemistry from Harvard University and was a National Science
Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellow at Stanford University. The
nature of this work has been to elucidate fundamental feature
of chemical reaction mechanisms from simple rearrangement to
ionic reactions that can be applied to more complex systems.
Most recently Dr. Foster has worked on novel chemical
supplements for the body and the use of nanotechnology for
wound healing and other anti-inflammatory applications.
However, he spends most of his time trying to keep up with
three daughters, Maya, Carine and Juliette, who teach him more
than any scientific paper can ever contemplate.
Director of New
Product Development
Matt Lebowitz has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology
from Arizona State University. He is also a certified personal
trainer and he is weight management certified. He has years of
experience in the health and fitness industry and he managed
one of the top vitamin and health shops in Arizona for the
better part of his professional career. Matt has extensive
